01 The brief
Elgebaly is a working pharmacy, not a catalogue business. Alongside medicines and cosmetics it rents oxygen and suction equipment, sends nurses to patients at home, builds therapeutic nutrition programmes under medical supervision, and compounds prescriptions to order.
A standard e-commerce template would have flattened all of that into "products". The brief was to build a storefront where a service you book and a device you buy can sit side by side without either looking out of place.
Everything a pharmacy actually does, in one storefront — including the parts that are not products.
02 What we built
The device catalogue is organised the way a customer thinks about it rather than the way a supplier ships it: measurement, treatment and respiratory, patient care, mobility support. Blood pressure monitors, nebulisers, wheelchairs and hospital beds each sit where someone looking for them would expect.
The boxes are the idea that makes the store distinctive. A Hajj and Umrah box, a school box, an army box, a bride-and-groom box — each a bundle assembled for an occasion, priced as one item, and merchandised on its own page. They turn "what do I need for this?" into a single decision.
Services get first-class placement rather than a footer link: instant delivery, round-the-clock pharmacist consultation, home nursing, equipment rental, nutrition programmes and compounding all sit in the primary strip beneath the hero.
03 Architecture
A pharmacy competes on being found. The technical decisions follow from that.
Server-rendered Angular
Every category, box and product page ships as prerendered HTML with critical CSS inlined, so search engines and link previews get real content instead of an empty shell.
Arabic-first, not translated
The layout was designed right-to-left from the first wireframe. Product names, dosages and prices all read naturally rather than sitting in a mirrored English grid.
Accounts and cart
Registration, login and a persistent cart, with WhatsApp kept as a parallel ordering route for the customers who will always prefer it.
Light and dark
A complete second theme, because a lot of this traffic arrives late at night from a phone in a dark room.
